The Urgent Care Plan will enable every Londoner to have their care and support wishes digitally shared with healthcare professionals across the capital.

UCP Headlines

Watch our short update video from Murrae Tolson, Director of the Urgent Care Plan Programme giving you the UCP headlines for November.

Training portal and webinars

The UCP has a Training Portal, which is an online environment that can be used to see how patient care plans can be created or updated, and to see the UCP system functionalities. The UCP Training Portal is identical to the UCP Web Portal but is not linked to any real patients, care plans or user data. Anyone who works for an organisation in London that has been onboarded to use the UCP may request access to the UCP Training Portal, which includes commissioners, IT leads and transformation teams. Please complete this form if you are interested.

Weekly training webinars continue to run every Thursday at 13:00-13:30. Webinars are open to any colleagues with an interest in learning about how to use the UCP system. Our team will show you how to use the UCP to create and update care plans, and other useful functionalities such as viewing the care plan history and withdrawing a care plan. In the session there will be time to answer any questions you may have. You do not need to register or book in advance. We are also able to offer bespoke training webinars at a time that suits your team and your area of care, such as using the UCP in primary care, care homes or acute care. Please email swlicb.ucp.training@nhs.net if you are interested.

All information about training can be found on the UCP Training page.

Valida

The Urgent Care Programme (UCP) has previously communicated with IT leads and users regarding issues affecting access to the UCP from the Valida client. As our priority, we have been working with our system supplier Better, to improve the accessibility to the UCP via this route. We acknowledge that stable and consistent access to the UCP has not been provided from the Valida client in-context link. As a programme, we have thoroughly investigated all 13 unique issues that have been reported, and we have been working with Better to resolve these. Better have since released a Valida client update that contains fixes to 8 of the 13 issues. We are pleased to report that this update has been successful.

Of the issues outstanding, the two main issues are:

  • Locked accounts for an organisation during the EMIS configuration process when the password is entered incorrectly.
  • Organisations with multiple CDB numbers are unable to complete EMIS configuration.

We are continuing to work closely with Better and EMIS to resolve these.

To increase the support available to our users, our Valida Helpline continues to be available for users and IT helpdesks between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Phone: 020 3880 0285

Data Reporting and Business Intelligence

We are currently testing the data extracts and establishing the data flows required to create the UCP BI dashboards. However, we are still awaiting confirmation that the necessary IG arrangements have been implemented for all London ICSs. Once this has been confirmed, we will be able to start creating the dashboards required to support local transformation initiatives.

What we are working on

As a programme we are always looking to improve on the existing system and service. At the moment, we are focussing on:

  • Developing the Professional Dashboard which will give users of the UCP Web Portal the ability to create, view and filter patient lists. The development is expected to go live in January.
  • Integrating with Cerner Millennium. Once implemented, users will be able to access the UCP via their Cerner Millennium EPR.
  • Discovery regarding new templates to support new use cases. The UCP will be hosting a workshop in January with clinical networks to scope opportunities for new templates to support additional uses of the UCP.
